Apparently,  these folks hope to “match and exceed the reach of big media, corporate media, labels, and the entrenched interests. On March 22nd, we they are going to take an indie podsafe music artist to number one on the iTunes singles charts as a demonstration of our their reach to Main Street and our purchasing power to Wall Street.â€Â This should prove interesting.Â
I will wait with baited breath.  In all honesty, this isn’t the first time someone has tried to do this and succeeded. For valid proof, simply take a look at American Idol and the Sanjaya debaucle. This delightfully pleasant and talentless rogue is still in the race thanks to our favorite shock-jock, Howard Stern. Learn more about it here…

In any event, if you feel like turning over the balance of power, jump onto itunes and grab yourself a copy of “Mine Again” by the band Black Lab. Â
Apparently, The Classical segment of the industry is still moving along nicely. According to Soundscan, the Classical market has actually grown in the last year! With album sales gains of 22.5% it appears that Mozart is still a rockstar. This combined with a 12% market share on Itunes (compared to @6% in retail) points to more gains in the future.
Surely a nice bit of news in a seemingly bleek time for the industry.
